Flying Free
Valor smiled as the warm air flowed over his wings, pushing him higher into the bright sky. He angled to the left and watched the ground for any signs of movement. When he saw none he smiled and straightened out. He flapped his wings once and shot off like a bullet towards the mountain. As he reached it and the land began to slope upwards, he settled himself onto the slanted ground. He looked around and, spotting what he was looking for, walked towards it. He walked up to a tall tree with purple flowers. He rubbed his head against it and cawed softly.
"Wake up sleepy head. The sun is already high in the sky and the weather is perfect. You're missing it."
The tree began to twist and turn. It shrunk and began to take on the shape of a human. The leaves settled around the shape like a cape, and then they all solidified into Anakara. She smiled at the griffin and rubbed its head.
"Thank you for waking me up Valor." She said "I agree, today is beautiful."

Re: Flying Free
Dyvien turned to the mountain and surveyed the skies warily, tail swishing behind her. She swore she had seen something move up there, and yet no one had been to Emerald Peak in weeks, never mind any higher than its base.
Her eyes narrowed, and she spread her wings, just letting the breeze catch them for a while, until finally she beat them downwards and in one fell swoop she was skyward-bound, wind rushing past her ears.
She traced the skyline right up to the strange party's location, but suddenly she felt a tug of wind she had not anticipated.
Her claws lost their grip on the halo. It tumbled downwards, and in a heart-wrenching moment it was too far away to catch. She folded her wings and tumbled after it, claws outstretched, but it was falling too fast.
Close by Valor and Anakara, there was a loud thud and an explosion of blades of grass that floated away on the breeze.
Dy cursed under her breath. The halo had rolled away down the hill, and she had no idea where it was. Too weakened to move, she lay on her back, staring at the sky. She didn't seem to be bleeding, but then she never did.

Re: Flying Free
Valor jerked his head up at the loud thud. He growled and puffed out his feathers, but Anakara placed a hand on his shoulder and he relaxed, but only a little. He looked at Anakara and she nodded. He loped off, pulling his wings into his body so he could move faster. After only a few minutes he sped to a stop. A blue creature with white glowing wings was lying on the ground. He stopped a few yards away from it and cocked his head to one side. He slowly stepped forward.
"Are you alright?"
Anakara melted into the ground as Valor took off. It only took her a few seconds to find hi location and the location of the thing that had hit the ground, and she seemed to materialize from the ground right next to Valor. She looked the thing up and down and pulled her hood up quickly, not wanting her face to be seen right away just incase.

Re: Flying Free
Dyvien made a typical 'angry cat' noise, growling and spitting as she turned her head enough to see the two approach. She slammed her claws into the ground and forced herself to a sitting position, eyes fixed on them angrily. The gryphon spoke, and she flinched.
"Alright," she mimicked, nodding. She used exactly the same tone of voice as he had, though it was her own voice that said it. However, she seemed to mean it to confirm his question. It was possible that she understood the meaning upon first hearing, but not beforehand - and in this way, copied everything she heard.

Re: Flying Free
Valor cocked his head as the cat like thing hissed at him. Then it copied the way he spoke. He looked it up and down and then backed up towards Anakara. He swished his tail through the air and then let it rest on the ground, tapping slightly.
"Who are you? And why did you...erm...crash land?" He didn't mean to offend the creature, but he needed to know. He was naturally curious.
Anakara also looked the cat like creature up and down. She seemed weak, but that was probably from her crash landing. She stepped forwards carefully, just in case the creature didn't want her too. "Are you alright? Are you hurt?"

Re: Flying Free
"Crash land... Land? Alright." She somehow managed to force herself into a crouched position, one paw clenched into a fist and held against the ground for support. Wings flared out suddenly as if testing their strength, but quickly folded again. "Crash..." She turned to look over her shoulder, downhill. Now that she was slightly more upright, she could see a very faint twinkle from somewhere further down the hill. The halo had caught on a branch. She continued to stare at it as if mesmerised, but unable to move any closer to it. Her wings trailed uselessly on the ground, their glow somewhat dampened.
Re: Flying Free
Valor followed the cat creatures gaze and it fell upon something shiny farther down the hill. He spread his wings and jumped towards it, lazily gliding only a few feet over the ground. He touched down at the base of the tree and climbed up. The shining halo glimmered in the sunlight. He cocked his head to the side and then took it in his beak. Instead of flying back, he ran back, covering the distance in a shorter amount of time. He placed the halo near the cat creature and then stepped back. "Is that what you wanted?"

Re: Flying Free
Dyvien winced visibly as the creature took up her halo, her tail lashing. As he dropped it beside her, she reached out to snatch it forcefully from the ground. With it clasped in her paw, she finally stood up and drew herself to her full height, wings unfurling once more as if they were weapons to be brandished by a warrior. She considered trying to destroy these pitiful...
...they weren't pitiful, really. They had retrieved her lifeline. No emotions played upon her face, but she seemed to relax a little.
"Dyvien." She jerked a paw out in a uniform way, as if she had mechanical joints, and her ears sat back slightly on her skull, now far from the attempted intimidation that apparently hadn't worked.

Re: Flying Free
Valor let out an almost inaudible growl as the creature stood up to its full height. It stretched out its paw and Valor nodded to it. Its not that he couldn't shake hands, he just didn't want to. He looked at the halo for a little while before turning back to Anakara. He sat next to her and looked anywhere but at the cat creature. "My name is Valor."
Anakara took the creature's outstretched hand and shook it softly. "I am Anakara." She said, her musical voice had a slight edge to it, as if she were uneasy. If she was, she didn't show it on her face. She smiled slightly. "What brings you here Dyvien? We've never seen anyone else up here on the peak."

Re: Flying Free
Dyvien shook hands firmly and then withdrew her paw, examining it as if taking part in such a nonviolent act would give her burn marks. It didn't. She shook her head at the being's question. "Alright, alright." She mentally searched for words she'd heard that could help her with this situation. "...Mn... Crash land... this fault. Dropped this." She brandished the halo briefly, then finally hooked it around her tail and twisted the end so that it couldn't fall off.
