Chasm Lake Description

This huge body of water glimmers in the sunlight. The miniature ripples and waves of the otherwise relatively calm lake are blinding when viewed on a bright sunny day, but the real soul of the lake lies under the surface. The lake bed is barren and lifeless apart from the occasional freshwater crab and tiny shoals of shimmering fish; for the most part, it looks somehow like an underwater dust bowl. However, if your line of sight strays to the very centre of the lake, you would see a gigantic crack in the ground. The water there is still fairly clear, but you cannot see the bottom, and it gets progressively darker the further down you go. It's said that strange creatures lurk at the bottom, though few dare to plumb its depths. Most just stay in the sunny, shallower waters near the edges, where it's a common favourite for those who like to sun themselves.For miles around the edges of the lake, the ground is just as bare as it is underwater. Mountains rise in the distance, rippling in the heat. No plants grow here; although there is water, there are no useful minerals in the ground.
